Downsizing LR2 wheels

I am considering some smaller winter rims for our 2008 LR2 HSE. THere are a bunch on ebay but, since this car is relatively new model I don't know which ones will fit.. Any suggestions on which wheels would work?? The smaller the better. Thanks again!

Any rims you look at need to be specifically for the LR2/Freelander 2 as none of the RR, RRS or LR3 rims will fit without an adpator. Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!

Thanks for the reply!

So this means any Freelander wheel whill fit the LR2 HSE - including the 16 and 17 inch ones?

i understand the Freelander 1 rims will NOT fit the Freelander 2

There is an adapter out now as said above, but they say Discovery 3, RR Sport wheels, no mention of any other.

If you look at aftermarket wheels (non OEM), mark sure they a suitable for the weight of the FL2 Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

As NP says the freelander 1 rims will not fit without finding an adpater to use, but i am not aware of any for fitting the FL1 to FL2 models.

I think you read my "LR2/Freelander 2" as two seperate vehicles, but they are the same just I detailed the two different names that are used in different markets. Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!

KAV,

Word of warning - 16s don't fit on 3.2 petrols due to bigger brakes!

I think the best KAV could hope for is 17's off of an old LR2, but they are going to be rare as not long after introduction stateside they stopped with SE and HSE models and only sell the HSE now. Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!

Kav, if you find rims that will fit the LR2 please post where you got them here. I'm in Canada too and I've tried everyplace in ontario, nobody even has the LR2 listed for winter rims (Steel rims). I was looking for 17 inch and the only place that could get some is the dealer at a $130 a piece without the TPMS installed.

Shocked

Are they quoting you for alloys or steelies? My local dealer wants $160 (US) a piece for the 17" steel rims (as used with the spare) without TPMS. I think it'd almost be cheaper to get a set of alloys off eBay UK and have them shipped over here.

I've verified that Freelander (1) wheels will not fit the LR2. And 16" is too small to fit over the brakes of the I-6 equipped cars we get here in North America.

I'm not too concerned about winter - I just want to mount some decent off-road tires on our LR2.

The tech at the phone said they would most likely be plain black steel for that price ($130). I can't believe nobody else makes rims for the LR2. The way things are going I'll probably end up getting winter/offroad tires for the 18" alloys or spend the money and get the 17" steel rims from the dealer. I just don't want to ruin the alloy rims over the winter and if I ever go offroading it would be easy to switch the 18's for the 17's (with the offroad tires already on) in my garage. Smile

Let me know if you find anything, i'll keep looking around until it starts to snow after that I'll have to decide.

I ended up buying 18" winter tires from OK tires and had them switch out the tires. These are the tires I bought:
http://www.oktire.com/en/tires/TireBrandDe...tID=179850

If I could, I would of bought at BFG AT/KO's but nothing in the 18" sizing.

Anyways, that was last year, and the cost of having to switch between the all seasons and the winter tires justified me buying a separate set of 18" rims at 150 a piece.

I went with National Tire Wholesale out in Delta, BC for these ones (the z02 in black):

I am going to get the Toyo's mounted onto these rims in November. Armchair Commando

Those are nice, you sure you don't want to use the standard rims for the winter. Shocked

The Z02 are pretty sweet looking. Cool

Er, thats what I meant. OEM rims on winter tires, and then use these aftermarkets as rest-of-the-year tires. But being in BC, I might as well have the winters on for 6 months. =) Armchair Commando

Just got 17" alloys and snows

I picked these rims, http://www.msrwheels.com/auto_car_wheels.cfm?id=361 with some Nexen winterguard tires. Good deal I think, came to approx 1100 cdn. I didn't bother with the tpms sensors since these are only for the winter. I can live with the warning light being on as long as I'm having fun in the snow.
