People like this take the Great out of Britain, it is not as though the box is going to affect his garden and certainly wont devalue his house, indeed, I suspect with fast broadband the desirability of the village may increase. Pricks like this need a slap and made to realise there are more important things than oneself.

I would have thought they had automatic access rights to it by law. If not, why don't they move it onto the pavement then? Then give him years of problems with his phone line. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Hmm. Just listened to the bloke on Jeremy Vine Radio 2 and I think I agree with him. According to him, BT offered him money years ago and he said no. His reasoning is that Open Reach regularly visit the box for ongoing repairs - sometimes up to seven times during the day. He's on a busy junction, they park illegally and the bus cannot get round. He told them where to fit a box, for free, in a quiet lane opposite. They fitted one there 8 months ago. Some of the village now have broadband. They now need a bigger box and he has told them to fit it next to the other one they fitted in the quiet lane where parking is not a problem, a danger or an inconvenience. He claims to have tried to discuss this by contacting various management within BT. No one has ever got back to him. I think I'd do the same under the same circumstances - just why wont BT fit a box elsewhere - will it only work in his garden? Despite what is being reported, he seems to have support from quite a few in the village although one bloke came on saying that he was against him as his son couldn't do his homework. Jeremy Vine suggested that its his duty and he should 'take the hit' for the village. A village resident says he shouldn't and that he had her support for his stance.

I don't know the ins or out, but if the box needs updating then normally its the innerworkings, moving it to a quiet lane is not just a simple move, as cables need to be routed from the road, to the new box, so roads would need digging up, also his garden, (how else would they be able to move the cables) so that would be another complaint

Telephone cables are in trunking, there are very few that need digging up ground to alter cable runs, junction boxes that are modified for fibre optics need a power supply, that cannot be run in telephone trunking as a cable fault in the power line could take out thousands of lines, possibly that is the reason for digging up his lawn.

you flatter yourself, although knowing you, I think the needs of the village would outweigh the disruption to a few metres of grass |

Bloody terrible. We had something similar in a pub round our way just over a year ago with a dodgy Christmas dinner. One dead, 32 seriously ill, two jailed and a £1.5m fine. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-29...oning.html Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto Present: Audi A3 S Line. |
