I was talking to the son of an old friend at the weekend. He had a 2011 3.0 V6 Disco 4 HSE sitting outside and we got talking about LandRover (as you do). He had just got his Disco back after 8 weeks at the dealers. He had been driving down the motorway when there was an almighty bang and the engine lost all power and he coasted to a halt. The car was recovered to his local LR dealer who pointed out that his warranty had only 2 days left !! There had been some sot of camshaft failure, he didn't know exactly what but by all accounts the engine was pretty badly damaged. What surprised him was that LR didn't put in a new or replacement engine but insisted on the engine being rebuilt, hence the 8 week delay. He was told that the cost of the job had come to about £24k (including hire cars etc). I find this figure hard to believe, any views? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

My Specialist Landieman has just been putting a new engine in another D4. Engine had seized after a turbo charged oil leak!
Don't know how much but certainly enough to cause a wobbly bottom lip
