United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Orkney Grey
Donegal Tragedy

It would appear that the Audi Q7 whilst completing a 3 point turn at the end of a pier slid on the algae down a 30degree slope into the water. Apparently the electrics shut down and neither the doors nor windows could be opened. Absolute tragedy. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I thought cars, had safeguards relating to electrical shutting down

i.e. your in a crash, front end including battery goes off on their own, and you can still open doors to escape

even so, not seen this in the news, and sounds an awful way to go Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Apparently the driver managed to pass a baby out of the window and chose not to save himself but died trying to free the others. Absolutely awful and even the brave soul that dived in and saved the baby was very choked up. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Absolutely horrible. I have a ResQMe cable tied to my air vent in case I ever need to escape the car like that. It has a blade to cut stuck sest belts and a thing to smash windows.

Whether or not it would have helped in this example I don't know but always good to have something like that.

Must be one of the most horrible situations for any parent to be in Sad FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

One used to see submerged cars with the headlights still shining at least 2m under water for a considerable time, even salt water, so is it the CANBUS that fails and nothing happens re windows or even auto locked doors. Trying to open a door even if the pressures each side are equalised takes some considerable thought and preparation, unlikely in normal circumstances unless one is trained, even then not easy. Unfortunately for a family day out a simple error ended in much sadness and a orphan. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.
