leaving this forum

with a heavy heart i will be leaving this forum.... and joining the Disco Sport forum Smile

i will still be here for a while yet ( will need to sell some of the freel2 bits) but I just want to say this is an awesome forum with really helpful people and great support

Now... as i am moving from an SD4 dynamic to a Discosport HSE is there anything I should be aware of ? the drop in engine power wasnt noticeable ( 200 to 180) and everything just felt nicer and more up to date. Any advice from others who have gone down this path?

I will have roof rails fitted, will my cross bars from the Freelander fit the bars on the disco ?

Q

No need to leave this forum - stay on here for the banter and generally happy atmosphere.
I think you will like the DS - there is quite a lot of useful advice on the DS forum but you have to sift it out from the large number of comments by a few people who have taken against the car. Much as I liked the FL2 I wouldn't go back now. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

As said I purely defended the car against its many moaners, you have to be on the forum a while to get the continual downbeat tone and hatred of LR, the moderators latch on any moans with enthusiasm, while positive comments are shouted down.
they have even spread their lies to the honest john website,, when I pointed that out, they said' doesnt matter if its true or not aslong as it upsets LR'

Then they moan when landrover customer services on the forum wont join in the nonsense, preferring to correspond one on one instead.

lies get you nowhere if you have an issue then the truth is the fastest what to get a resolution.

I got banned for calling them a 'kangaroo court' I think, Im not sure , you dont get a reason, your login just stops working.

Meanwhile my disco sport behaves impeccably, A software update seems to have cured the early oil service issue, hard to fully judge that until you find out for real how many real miles it will do until the next service message, but the predicted mileage looks better now.

Such a shame the DS forum from this family of websites was a tad late coming to fruition and never took off

I've a DS and I'm still here

Why are they annoyed with LR? Have they got a lot of recalls, warranty issues or bad service from LR? Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer

I seem to remember in the early days of the FL2 there were a few gremlins (steer racks and fuel senders come immediately to mind), owner were not happy, but in time these were resolved, the pain fades and we have been left with a car with a reputation for reliability, comfort, and ability.

It's early days yet for the DS, many of the cars have niggles - and I'm not talking leaving you stranded niggles, (b pillar noises, services that are needed every 11k rather than 22k come to mind), I have no doubt that LR will get them sorted, but SOME of the owners are of the belief that they paid a lot of money for a new car and it should be perfect. Good luck to them, maybe they should have bought an older well tried design.

Not still here and not yet banned from the DS forum Very Happy Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Try making a noise on there, using free speech and see how long it is until supreme leader barnsh chucks you off.

or just stay quiet and see the same old lies and exaggerations regurgitated endlessly.

yes there have been some issues, with DS but as said by Andy very few left at side of road incidents. the main vein of opinion by 'those that know' on there is 'buy a volvo'
Most dealers are being very fair about the free early oil changes, one or two dealers have dodged this and annoyed a few people.

The latest moan is from a 6,7 guy who got back ache driving a DS. lack of headroom did he not even sit in one before buying?

Im left handed but dont constantly moan about the design of cheque books and corkscrews, sometimes things just dont fit.
