Check you tube for a video by PowerfulUK for bleeding fuel system. Was meant to be a video for changing fuel filter but the sometimes comic duo forgot to fill new filter so turned into something more. 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Did you actually run out of fuel? or did the car just cut out? I only ask as the car will cut the engine when it believes there is a danger of running out of fuel, even with 15 litres of fuel still in the tank. I have had a couple of sessions trying to bleed the system, then I bought a manual bleed pump. The AA put in 10 litres, tried for over 45mins and failed, eventually towed me from M56 Chester to Stockport LR to get them to bleed her. Aren't faulty fuel gauges fun. I don’t believe that I ran out of fuel. I was low and the gauge was playing up, had about 50 mile range in the tank. The needle was up and down all over the place. At the time it cut out the red light was on and the needle was at the bottom of the gauge. Going to give the filter a real good bleed on Saturday when I get it home, it's parked in the yard in work just now. Outside of that I am thinking that the ECU thinks there is no fuel in the tank and will not let the engine to start, I have put 30L in after it has come to a halt. It is a 57 plate and I do know of the pump issues they have, but this one has had an engine change from what the part co invoice says was a 2009 engine. So I am hoping the pump is not at fault. Is it the wiring failure that has told the ECU no diesel and I have to fix that to proceed. But to be honest I hope a bleed sort for now. As always any polite suggestion welcome and grateful received. I take it airlock was your problem Andy131 and the dear dealer did the trick. |

I had an issue with the fuel senders after a rear end shunt - eventually replacing the senders fixed my problem.

So still no joy. I have has a vacuum device today and draw fuel from the tank from the feed pipe into the filter, then from the out let side of the filter and finally from the input pipe into the fuel pump. Taken about 300mm out each time. Still will not start. It makes no attempt not a cough not even a titter, but what I have seen today is the feed pipe to the pump is has no fuel in it after I have tried to start it. Some how the pump is drawing air. As you can see in the picture in the red circle. Is there a know weak point I can go to and solve all my problems in one go, yeah I am sure. Where would be the best place to start if any to track down a air leak |
