There are two motors inside of the locking unit one unlocks the other locks. The motors pick up dirt on the carbon brushes making them weak so they don't function as they should. You can either just replace the whole locking unit at a cost of around £130 or take your old unit apart and strip and clean the motors. I have fixed my old locks after replacing all 4 with new ones after they failed with new motors from Maplin.co.uk

Maplin has discontinued the motors as i purchased them over 12 months ago. You could try a model shop who does rc helicopters and cars as they are widely used in them. You need to get the correct worm drive if not just strip the new motors for parts ie carbon brushes as they will all be the same. |
