Stuartc, this package was sold only in very cold climates, for example Russia but in cold countries like in central Europe the FL2 was sold without the climate package as standard.
My FL2 2008 has only the PTC heater installed as standard and when i looked for a FL2 on the used market in Germany 99% of the FL2's did not have the fuel burning system.

Hi Dresdner, I'm assuming your SE doesn't have a touchscreen?
All L359 have this system regardless, it just need s to be activated via CCF. But obviously you need to have the screen to use it. MY15

I have the screen, my SE is 60 years edition which is almost HSE in spec
I do not have the hardware installed, and by that i mean the webasto fuel burning unit.

Ok, if you have the screen then you can activate the feature which I have shown.
The Fuel Fired Heater doesn't have to be connected for the touchscreen feature or EATC to work as long as you have a way to heat the coolant, as you do!
I'm in Australia, have no need for a Auxilary Heater but is active in my car. Can also be used to vent hot air from vehicle. MY15

Now i got it!
Is this working for the older models (2008 with DVD navi) My screen only show navigation options nothing else.

Defa them self's market their block heater as "safe start" since
It will not provide enogh heat to be noticable in the cabin.
It will provide engine block at 30c which is great for crancking a diesel motor in winter time.

The thermo heater is more likly to heat the cabin with fans on.

Check your owners manual for your vehicle, pretty sure it was available on 1st Generation touchscreen. It will be under "Timed Climate" or "Auxillary Heater". MY15

Some more pictures from my installation (for the first picture please download it and open it in a software with zoom to see my remarks)

The cabin heater cable i routed from the back of the battery throgh the canal where the wipers motors are.

If you just push the cable in this hole you will see it popping out here

route the cable behind the fuse box.

for the cable to the engine heater you will need to buy an extension

Sweden

I had a DEFA block heater installed yesterday. All i had to get was the heater itself as i found all the cables and connectors at our local flee market Very Happy

To the local garage 4 hours though, the frost plug was apparently "a pig to get to"

It does work a treat though Bow down Thumbs Up

I will get one of those frog-type heaters with a pump for our Fairway Driver Black Cab though, no problem with space under the bonnet there Very Happy
