United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Orkney Grey
Mantec tank guard

For those with the mantec tank guard...does your exhaust contact the guard on startup/ low revs?

I think my exhaust is banana shaped, but wanted to check with others before I have a crack at straightening it! 2000 Xei 1.8 gone

when you have dropped the car a few feet onto rocks onto the sump guard - then yes the exhaust catches the guard on startup.

Also when you fill the guard with clay and the exhaust bakes it then there is solid contact - needs cleaning out every time you seriously off-road.

You cannot straiten out the guard with a sledge hammer - it needs a hydraulic press, been there tried that. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Yep, tick, tick and tick...

I was considering cutting a chunk out the guard and welding a plate on the bottom, making the exhaust route a little bigger, currently I have a silicon pad between guard and exhaust... 2000 Xei 1.8 gone

try new rear brackets - yours will be bent - mine were.

They are available from Mantec.
Or you can fabricate some from 6mm steel plate - we have a fab shop at work, surprising what you can get for a box of celebrations. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
