speedometer/clocks

I have a 2007 with the intermittent start issue which I think is the software update that's needed
However rather than a trip to the dealer I can replace the instrument pack with a newer model
Does anyone know if this is just plug and play or would doing it also require a trip to the dealers

Reason I'm thinking this way is, after phoning a few LR places they all seem to have different opinions as to what is the cause and when you mention "software update" = blank look or silence.

TIA

What makes you think it's a software update problem? Are you saying that when you press the button nothing happens? Could be a dodgy switch on the clutch pedal. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

There is a technical bulletin number in this post, that should tell the dealer which software update they need to check/apply.
Changing the cluster may well cause other issues as the various ecu talk to each other and suddenly have a different component thrown into the mix?

Guess the software update applies to the ECU not the instrument pack? 2007 hse auto
