So the nice guy at the petrol station says " hey mate, your n/s/r brake light is out".

"Thank you" says I , thinking a quick trip to the local factor & a couple of quid later .....................

It was Saturday pm so only thing open was Halfords. Showed the guy my bulb. He pointed to the rack, I nearly fell over (£10) then walked out.

On Tuesday I popped into an auto electrical garage and they sold me a bulb £1 something. Went to another garage to talk about towbars, borrowed a screwdriver from Pete the owner, wrong bulb. The pins were double offset but set at wrong angles ! Pete didn't have a bulb.

Off I go to my local LR indie to book the FL2 in for the towbar fitting and asks (another garage owner called) Pete for a bulb. "Not got one" he replies.

Goes back to where I bought the wrong bulb from and gets a refund as they haven't got one.

Off I go back into town to another auto electrician & shows him the bulb, "I got one of them" he says. Off he goes to his stock room, "no I haven't" he says on returning.
On the same estate is another 4x4 indie so he phones them. "They haven't got one either".

Off I go to the factor I should have gone to in the first place. "Yes we got them" says Chris & places one on the counter. "I'll have two" I say in excitement, thinking I don't want to go through this again. "That will be £22" says Chris. I'm not sure if he was taking the or he had forgot I was in the trade but he was trying to charge me full retail.
I checked the bulb, it was wrong.
Off he goes and this time gets the right bulb "I'll just have one please Chris" !
That will be £5.87 please Mike.

So nearly £6 and an at least an hour lost I now have a Lucas LLB383 (12v 21.5w BAW15D s25 "E" Red) bulb fitted. I think the old one was 4w?

As I am typing this I searched the part number on the net and found the average price to be £7.80.
