Adding dash speakers

Hi folks, I currently have the mid line sound system which sounds ok but not great.
I have been reading up on the high line upgrade and whats involved and also read somewhere that I could fit the side dash speakers quite easily as the wiring is already there and connected?
Would this this be correct as it sounds like an easy job and could be worthwhile doing without spending a lot of money.

Advice appreciated

Regards Martyn

I seem to remember that if you have the Alpine system and its midline, that adding the 2 outboard dash speekers will work without any hardware or CCF changes. Best person to ask is Cambo as he has the Alpine system whereas I have the Meridian Thumbs Up MY15

Yup, I fitted them a while back and they work just fine. Can't do the centre one though.

Not convinced it makes much of a difference but more speakers must be better Wink FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

the difference between my old low line 6 speaker(?) system in my GS spec and my new 13:1 dolby surround system in my current HSE spec is astronomical.

The HSE system is amazing so yes, 14 speakers is much better than 6 Laughing

Think I will give it a go then, like you say more speakers must be better.

Thanks for the replies. Martyn

I'm not so sure, I play music from my Android phone via the aux input, It makes a tremendous difference to the sound stage if I use a player app that can add 'room' and other effects.

This is using the basic 'Low Line' (I think) system, the radio and CD's lack centre which the player app adds.

I tend to do the same with my S6 and it does sound ok if tweeking the sound options on the phone.
Its the cd and radio that sounds a bit muffled on my set up.
Has anybody changed the existing speakers for 2 or 3 way speakers? Martyn

Mine's not muffled, just too much stereo separation. It really needs a centre speaker.

Guys, just fitted the dash speakers and am quite impressed with the result.
Speakers and fixings came to 40.00 inclusive from main dealer which was on par with online prices.

30 minute job and a nice little mod. Thumbs Up

You can only add the dash speakers to the Midline System (Alpine Branded) the wiring is not present in the Base system. Does your GS have the Midline system?

Part numbers for the dash speakers are in the main thread here http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic17777.html 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
