It's a far east fascination, possibly due to the fact most of their exports are to the 3rd world or the USA and both like chrome, apart from other commonalities. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I think the Subaru Forester is a good vehicle,I know not as sexy as the LR products but you are getting a lot of kit and a capable vehicle at a not bad price. My pal picked up a 2004 model last year and he has put on 20'000 in a year with out a problem. |

If you liked the Scout you would love the Subaru Outback - Ask Martyn B what he thinks. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

22000 miles in 22 months Tenet I love the Outback . Bob it is the load lugger that you need . The perceived downside is that it is 150 horse , as I donāt tow that does not make an haāporth of difference to me . Also I question the need to give myself more oomph , as around here I can get myself ā scammered ā by just rolling along. It has the same ground clearance as our Freelander , although the body , hence seating position is lower . The full time symmetrical Subaru all wheel drive system is incredibly kind on tyres , Iāve still got over a 1/3 of the tread left from new. As Iāve said before it will go anywhere that a sane person who didnāt want to damage their vehicle would reasonably take it . For anyone who has a hobby that needs you to get a few friends and a boot load of kit across fields, itās a good choice . The Outback will replace my wifeās Freelander in a few years , as in 2021 when my State Pension kicks in I might just lease something silly for a year or two

Yes the concept seemed very practicable but did not road test it and the Outback would need to have a flat load-space with the back seats down. Maybe Martyn could comment on that. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The load space is indeed flat Bob , and 60/40 split rear seats . Itās a much bigger load area than the Octavia , but not quite as big as an A6 or a Superb. The way I look at it is a Subaru is a car that you buy because you are going to run it for 5 or 6 years at which point it will owe you not a lot, and if you want to keep it another 10 then great . Something like the Kodiak has been built to be leased for a few years then chipped in for the next newest and greatest . Subaru are generally pretty accommodating about real test drives , KT Green near Otley let me drive one for half a day , no obligation . Along with many other cars though Bob, they are packed with technology you will either love or hate . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Technology I used to drive series ones with no heater never mind even a radio. I guess you need need to carry a grandchild around to make the thing work then.

Iām a gentleman Bob . On the odd occasion that I carried a female passenger on the third seat of our Defenders , due to them sitting straddling the transmission tunnel , I drove with both hands on the wheel , pressed the clutch pedal , and instructed ā second ! third ! etc. Going for the Low Ratio lever or locking the diff was obviously never attempted
