My wife and I went on a short trip from Ontario, Canada to Rochester New York. About 3 hours. We had time to spare, so I kept my speed to 100 kms. The vehicle has 58000 kms.

On the trip there we averaged 7.7 litres per 100 kms. That I believe works out to 30 mpg. This is outstanding as far as I am concerned for this size of vehicle.

In Canada part of the service is free oil changes. However I have provided the oil. I have been using "Amsoil 0 W 30" from new.

I am not promoting the oil, but have been very pleased with the product.

Best I've done is 28 mpg at 85mph.

I had a strong wind behind me.

Without a wind, I usually get 22-23 mpg at 80 mph.

I would go absolutely crazy at 60mph/100km/h that's way too slow. I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

The best I've seen is 27-28 mpg at an easy 70 mph. Around town and commuting (50% highway, 50% urban) I do about 20 mpg. When I'm traveling with my windsurfing gear on the roof rack, 22-23 mpg on the highway. I've really been quite pleased with the mileage on the LR2. I've noticed it's really improved once the motor's past 15,000 miles or so.

I average about 12.5 l/100km (~18 mpg) in the summer doing mostly city/urban driving. Mileage increases the more long highway trips the LR2 makes. In the winter mileage decreases slightly to 13.5-14 l/100km.

We just took our 08 LR2 on a 2,200 mile vacation up to New England states from Ohio and driving around 75mph it got about 25/26 mpg. It only has 5,000 miles on it. Was really happy with the milage I got.

Managed to squeeze 34mpg on a 1000 mile trip mostly 80 - 85mph...........is that any good  ______________________

The best I've ever done is 7.9l/100km (29.8mpg). That was on a flat road and doing 100kph. As soon as I hit any type of hills it goes up to 8.4-8.9 (28-26.4) . In the winter, I'm lucky to get under 9. I've got 24000k (14900miles) and I'm a pretty mellow driver.

City driving's another matter. 11-14l/100km (21-17mpg) is the norm

My wife drives the vehicle every day to her office about a one hour trip on country roads. She averages between 10 and 11litres per 100 kms. Not too bad overall.

We have been very happy with the vehicle. We did have a "2004 Freelander" before and it was a nighmare. Nothing but problems. I had a hard time convincing my wife to get the LR2, she agreed and we are both happy with our decision to give the Landrover another try.

I am a car nut and have spent many pleasant hours, changing some of the more visible bolts on the engine and in the engine compartment to stainless steel. (Nothing that has to meet any torque specifications.)

I have investigating the possibility of using an aftermarket ECU, again just because. I am not interested in going any faster, just always looking for better overall performance. There is a company in Burlington that has a unit but it is about 1000 bucks?? Not worth the effort!!!!!!!!

Eventually I want to change the brakes to Brembo or something similar. What I would like to source is an aftermarket cold air intake, but no luck yet.
