Long time member of Def2 and Disco3 but brand new here.

Hi all!

Sold my 2011 Defender 110 XS utility last weekend and after a weeks hunt coming up empty-handed for a replacement defender, I decided to quickly purchase a cheap freelander to get me to work monday for my weekly commute of South Wales to the Lake District of 250 miles each way! as mum wanted her stolen (by me haha) freelander back with 640 miles on it in a week!

Saw this one locally a 2007 XS with 190k miles at £4500 with 14 stamps and quite a few invoices of items replaced and proof of cam belt being done at 120k, new alternator n pulleys etc and a recent service.

Test drove it, checked it over, haggled and did the deal and bought it today with 4 months warranty.

Driving home its bloody nippy! mrs in the Disco3 had to press on to keep up lol.

It needs tyres as every corner is a different premium make with one nearly on limit aside from that is in extremely good nick for 190k!

heres a quick pic of it.

Just a couple questions really, how difficult is it to facelift to the latest style lights? and also retro fit heated seats as theres no buttons for it on the dash. I like my winter packs!

Also any good ideas of what to do to it or just keep it boggo and sell it when I'm finished with it in a couple months

some do and some don't.

but to be honest with the sort of mileage you have on yours, and how much you paid for it, is it worth spending several hundred quid on upgrades ?

maybe upgrade the bulbs all round and new tyres as you say but xenon upgrades and the like can turn out to be several hundred pounds to do, and before you know it you have spent half the purchase price of the car on negligible upgrades.

I do a lot of long motorway commutes at night hence wanting to improve lighting but seeing I paid so little for it I may as well adopt bangernomics and spend only the necessities on it lol

love the bangernomics Rolling with laughter

you can get some decent upgrade bulbs like nightbreakers or Phillips. Even the Halfords 120% brighter bulbs are an improvement for not much cost.

One thing ive noticed is that over 80mph

there is a small but noticeable vibration thru bum and steering wheel aside from that the car drove beautifully on my 250mile commute this morning and i saved half a hour and a third of a tank over my defender haha

I miss my 110 though.
