My average MPG went from 24 to 31, probably because my EGR was not fully closing, which caused limp mode on one occasion..

Well, in that case I did not see any change but my consumption is good. I'm around 9.5l/100 km, and that's ~30mpg, right? |

As the engine gets older the EGR valve tends to stick open, and this can have a noticeable effect on performance. Blanking the EGR should make little or no difference in theory, but if the valve is sticking this mod will restore the engine to original performance. I'm not entirely sure of the legality or MoT position - it's certainly illegal to bypass or disable the DPF, for example. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I don't have DPF on mine so no worries there and I don't think the mot will be a problem. |

I have always used V-Power or BP Ultimate, and as such have never had an EGR fault in 9 years of Freelander 2 ownership.

There may be something in that! I think the EGR was beginning to stick on my MY13, which was one reason for letting it go. Particularly noticeable on the Autobahn - it didn't want to go above about 115, whereas it would do 130 (rather scarily) when new. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I've just blanked my EGR today. I normally try and fill the car with shell v power or the esso equivalent, but sometimes supermarket fuel gets put in out of necessity. I've noticed the past few months the engine seemed lumpy at low revs and when pulling away. Anyway, I put the EGR blanking plate in today and as soon as I reversed off the drive I could feel the difference! All the lumpiness has gone, it's like a different car! Brilliant for just under £4! |

Blanking EGR is not always straightforward - depends on the engine, year and even model car uyou have - do some research before you jump in - there are plenty of posts on here and other forums No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS
