Just been on LR website for the first time in ages and you can now build your Evoque soft top

Putting all the arguments surrounding the style/target market etc etc aside, an Evoque TD4 in Phoenix Orange with black pack and a few other bits would cost me

that's bloody ridiculous !!

base versions with no added extras were £45k for TD4 and £47k for Si4 which to my mind is outrageous.

It's aimed at the Mini Cooper convertible top of the range market, not us, it 250Kg more in weight than the tin top, though I must admit it does have the capability of carrying very tall loads when the sun shines  my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Still get more people going from Land Rovers to Range Rovers than the other way round. Not many who change, go back either. I can honestly say my Evoque had more of a premium feel about it than the brand new Discovery Sport HSE courtesy car I had recently. Mind you, I've never had a RRS or FFRR to compare it with - might have a different view if I did! Nice though they may well be, either would be far too big for our needs and besides the initial cost, I would imagine the running costs of them to be juuuuust a teeny weeny bit higher than an Evoque.  Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I drove a FFRR Vogue on my LR experience day a few years back, awesome car, very well put together and felt like luxury

then last year I drove the Evoque manual, and the Disco Sport manual at a LR event. My brother and son also drove the same cars.

the disco sport just didn't create a spark for any of us, didn't feel well put together and didn't feel worth the price tag. The evoque also didn't feel worth the price tag, but it did feel well built and was nice to drive.

The evoque is definitely not a proper ranger rover, but IMO it is more worth the money than the disco sport. Its down to personal preference on the looks and practicality really.

no pretty sure the manual I drove was AWD. It was a used example off the LR dealer forecourt at a sales event I got invited to at a pub near Chatsworth House

I drove a RR Vogue at a recent sales event put on jointly by Carrs Truro and the LRE Honiton. Absolutely superb but at over £93k just a tad out of my range!!! Definitely my Lottery-win car, if only I did the Lottery.....

Then sat in and examined a Disco Sport on the forecourt - dreadful. Cheap interior compared to my Freelander and ridiculously cramped for any tall passenger in the back. Doesn't have the same attraction externally either. I think it's a real step back from the FL2.

I think that by chopping that awful ugly roof off the Evoque they have definitely improved the looks for the Convertible. Give it two or three years to depreciate and a swap for a used one just might make sense - providing the boot is big enough for golf bag and trolley, of course! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

IIRC the convertible is only availabe as an auto BUT Rog says he drove a manual

Hard top evoque ED4 are all 2WD's manuals, You can spec a TD4 or SD4 in a manual for a true driver's experience  MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

it was definitely a manual I drove, I had to use my left foot and left hand

but im only presuming it was AWD..................... I may be wrong, it has been know on occasion
