Oh come on, who are you kidding? This IS about having TV/DVD on the move which is bloody dangerous and illegal, in this country at least. I personally think this should be discouraged and not be allowed to be shared on this site - not hailed as some kind of technical breakthrough to be celebrated. What next, illegal satnav updates? DPF removal? This post has been edited by the site administration team Thread Seperated to allow discussion on the rights and wrongs Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto Present: Audi A3 S Line. |

Hardly the same though as that's basically the same view you get by looking in your rear view mirror and an occasional glance to check what's going on behind you particularly when you are manoeuvring is a good thing. Now, when you are trying to follow a TV programme or watch a DVD that's a completely different matter as you could easily become distracted. That's why it's illegal and that's why a quick glance to what is going on behind your vehicle either by looking in a mirror or viewing it electronically isn't. You don't have to continually look at the rear camera view any more than you have to continually look in your rear view mirror. You do have to continually watch a TV programme though. I have split the topics, so you can discuss the ethics of having this enabled and it doesn't detract from what is possible if you so wished to enable it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

It's not exactly difficult and no need to go into CCF. I believe the FFRR has it on a split screen but the driver can't see it. In this country I suspect TV on the move is a waste of time as you would need to retune fairly often. However this mod would probably allow DVDs to be played on the move and is illegal as well as dangerous. I believe the capability or access to the capability should not be accessed on this forum. ( not really happy it has been announced it is possible, though most with more than basic electronic knowledge know it to be possible) my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Illegal as it might be, there is nothing to say that this needs to used on the road, as others have said this could well be used on the farm or other scenarios

Not the best idea ever. Research shows that even using a hands free mobile phone causes enough distraction to increase accident risk so how can having a screen showing tv/dvd in the centre console be any better! It will either distract or bore you to sleep, both of which are life threatening for someone when driving.

The function to use it whilst at stand still with or without the engine running should not a problem, most units allow DVD or TV with the handbrake on, how this operates with an electric handbrake I don't know, possibly why they went into CCF. But even the idea of driving about a farm or any other private area doesn't make it safe or sensible. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The bits'n bobs in front of the driver should be about car control. Anything that detracts from that primary role is potentially dangerous if it means the driver is not on the plot controlling the vehicle. Watching the TV while pootling about on the farm may be entertaining until you drive into the slurry pit! |

There is nothing new about having a moving picture showing on the nav screen.

Turning off the seatbelt chime is enabled by LR as there may well be a legitimate reason for that. In any case, even if there isn't a legitimate reason, only the non-user of the seatbelt is going to get injured.
