Ok, simple answer is very, very difficult.
The other systems use a fibre optic (MOST) To connect audio modules together, ie head unit, amp, Bluetooth, DAB etc.
The basic system doesn't have this so unless you are going to buy all the bits - head unit, amp etc you would then need to connect them with fibre optic cabling and most probably different wiring.
Big job I'm afraid.
To be 100% sure have a look behind your head unit to see if you can see any cabling like this, it's orange and it's the MOST fibre optic, if you have this you able to proceed.

There is actually a totally different head unit used for the base audio system, so any kind of retrofitting the factory system would require changing the head unit, adding wiring, then sub and amp. A very big job indeed.

So to make it economically, you could use the factory subwoofer assembly, but then i'd look at a small aftermarket amp to run it. A car stereo shop would be able to do this fairly easily. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
