I have to say that this subject has arisen because my old hatchback (Citroen Xantia) never got any dirt at all, ever on the rear window. In fact it wouldn't even get wet in rain if you were doing 30+. Now that's good design.

A few years ago when I was in England there was a drought and bush fires. England seems to be getting the drought, fire & flood cycle. The black Alfa 159 that I was driving was constantly covered in dust. Being black didn't help. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

We had water tankers ferrying water to Yorkshire a few years ago and around these parts in Lancashire, fires on the moors burn for days during the summer.
