I suspect it's a "Screen Off" button rather than a true power off; that probably happens when you turn off the engine. When you restart the car the whole system reboots and can't remember you previously turned off the screen.

Mine comes on with the main menu each time even if the sat nav was the last thing used, I dont think you can stop the screen coming on at all each time can you??

I have a question related to this. Is there a way of getting it to remember that you agree to drive carefully (or whatever it asks you)?  MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Perhaps thats the answer, dont agree and it wont let you turn it on?

It's probably like on a plane, you keep turning off the screen in front of you & the system keeps turning it on for safety instructions, advertising & other rubbish. When you want piece & quiet...... for safety!
