I'm off for 4 months on a tour of the UK

Tomorrow I will be off on a tour of the UK for 4 months.

First week at a local CL site to test (and no doubt modify) the unit before the long haul, from south coast to Scotland ...... stopping on the way.

I intent stopping at small sites / farmers fields. Scotland doesn't allow wild-camping (without a permit).

Due back in mid September.

(will have WiFi ....... so will be checking in ) Very Happy

Got back two weeks ago, had a great time, saw lots of wild camping, have fun with the wee carnivorous beasties
. Common sense isn't very common.

Yorky Bob, search "Freelander 2 on tour" (under my user name) posted last year when I was in France......scroll down and you will find many more photos.

I built the trailer, it has 3 slide-outs ..... like the US RV's. One is a 4ft bed (width ways across the trailer), the other two are seats. It has an outside kitchen. I am using that till I get to Scotland, then leaving it my brother's house, then using the roof tent for the tour, picking it back up on the return journey.

How much weight do you have on the roof?

What is the thing on the rear bumper bar right hand side? Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

sorry for the delay in answering your question.

The roof sleeping pod weighs around 60Kgs. Google Bundutec South Africia.

The rear bumper bar .... Right hand side ???

The right hand side is a WMIK machine gun mount, which acts as a pivot for the swingaway wheel carrier. On the left hand side is a rugged step from a Bedford MJ/MK army lorry.

Recently rigged the rest of my unit, incase the weather changes.

From the top of the roof tent is a canpoy which allows access into the roof tent. Hung from that canopy is a 'changing' tent. on the other side of the FL2 is a sun awning.

The rear bumper bar .... Right hand side ???

I think he meant the item circled, looks like an led lamp mounted in a front foglight recess.

the LED Lamp is a sideways facing reversing lamp. I have one on the other side also.

Gives better visibility when reverse passing through obstacles ...... like the 'farm gate' to the barn conversion.

Yes it is a front fog recess.
