New member needs advice

Hi everyone in Landy world, I'm thinking of buying a Freelander 2 diesel with an auto box' around an 07 plate with about 100000 miles on the clock' what should I look out for' how good are the engines at this millage and what will they need doing to them? Will it end up being a money pit? Thanks in advance. Shaun

A popular question.

The engine and AUTO box are good for many more miles than 100,000

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

Im off to look at a 2010 FL2 HSE auto tomorrow in Lincoln, it has 70k on the clock with full LR dealer history. So far ive only seen it in the pictures but coming from a JLR dealer I don't expect any issues in quality.

It will be my first auto FL2, having had 2 manuals before, and will be my first high spec one as the previous were both GS (although the 2nd one was heavily accessorised)

As with any car, look for FSH, good condition all round, everything working inside, if its a manual feel for excessive vibration or a slight knock when lifting the clutch pedal as this could be the dual mass flywheel/clutch set up failing, listen for droning noise from the rear end which could be rear diff bearings (bear in mind that road noise is likely to be more than a car due to SUV tyres etc)

They are excellent cars, but just apply normal common sense to checking it over. Thumbs Up

there is a lot to be said for purchasing from a main dealer - 2yrs warranty being the main thing Smile

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 TD4_e SE Manual Orkney Grey

My brother in law has just traded his 2007 HSE in black in with only 40,000 on the clock, immaculate and he only got 9 grand for it, and straight off the the auctions, would have been a bargain for whoever got it next.
Good ones are still out if youre in the right place at the right time.
Bet a crafty dealer made a few grand for doing absolutely nothing Rolling Eyes

sadly mine isn't coming with the 2 yr approved as it was bought in part ex by the Jaguar part of the dealership and is over 5 years old. They do provide a full 3 month warranty though and I do enough miles to pick up on things fairly quickly....... hopefully Laughing

as its had LR main dealer servicing since new, my train of thought is that its been well looked after as you don't pay dealer service prices if you don't have to. Once I have more details on it I will be dropping into my local LR dealer to get a detailed service history off them

150,000 miles or 10 years I believe. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

DPF?

Can anyone tell me if the 2.2 diesel has a particulate filter? and how would this affect short journeys? Thanks

The UK market fitted DPF's in the MY10/11 years, if yours is a UK market vehicle and MY07 model then no.
