2 questions

1. Passenger side window has stopped working, the window drops and raises a few mm using either the passenger door switch or the drivers side switch. window just stops dead and wont go down any further......... has anyone any ideas before I go back to the dealer ?

2. Drivers side step footplate appears to have come away from the bracket. Only just noticed it this morning when the bottom of the door scraped across the step and found the footplate was detached. Is it just a rusted bolt that's snapped possibly or are the side steps now knackered ?

cheers in advance

sneaky little plug there haha Laughing

ive just had a quick look underneath and 2 out of the 3 support brackets have rotted through and broken off completely. There is only about 3 inches of bracket left bolted to the sill and the ends have completely disappeared so it looks like a a whole new side step is required.
Be interesting to see if the (Jaguar) dealer will pay for a replacement or not (im guessing not as it wont be covered by warranty, only a good will gesture)

They have have it booked in for next Monday, and giving me a courtesy car from Saturday for them to look at it. There is LR dealer of the same group in the same town so I could be lucky, and one of the Jaguar techs is ex LR.

looking at the brackets and supports underneath I don't think they have much life left in them there is that much rust.

the brackets were just crumbling off in my hands !!

the rest of the underside is in pretty good nick though so that's one good thing Very Happy

What we have here is a classic case of dissimilar metal corrosion. The side step tread plates and the edge finishers are aluminium yet the pop rivets and tubes they sit on are steel. With the underside of the car exposed to rain, spray and anti icing salt/grit, it is a recipe for disaster. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

quality LR accessory design then Whistle

Ive been wondering if the side tube brackets are the same as the side step brackets Confused

if I end up having to remove/replace them at my own cost then I may look at changing to tubes.

AFAIK, brackets are different between OE steps and after market tubes & rails etc.

LR do side tubes in chrome or black, but im not sure if they are the same fixings as LR side steps or not.

I like the look of the side steps on mine, so would want something there if possible. Tubes are cheaper than steps generally but ill wait to see what the dealership says next Monday. Im 99% sure the steps aren't covered by warranty so if they do fix them it will be excellent customer service IMO.

RogB the fittings are completely different for the bars and the steps albeit they use the same holes and rivnut fittings at the front and rear of the cills. No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

oh well that rules the simple swap over then.

ive had a quick look on fleabay and there are quite a few OEM style steps for not much over £120 so if needs be I will research and buy a new set with new brackets and change whatever I can get to.

The steps are a doddle to fit - especially so if you already have the rivnuts fitted to the back of the cill which you will have - before you buy another set give me a shout.
I have a brand new in box set of steps and another pair that I had on my car for about a month - complete with all fittings - I will do you a deal to beat any eBay price Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

cheers Westie, Ill give you a shout next week once I know more what the garage are doing.

Unbelievable level of corrosion on the brackets but on thinking about it the car was originally from the Edinburgh area and then moved to Durham/Newcastle area so both areas that are permanently wet Laughing
