Manual headlamp washer override?

Does anyone know of a way of making the headlamp washers work when YOU want them to or more often? If you drive across a field and through mud and get your headlamps dirty in the evening there is no way of giving them a quick wash. At present there is some overly complex algorithm that determines when you will next get a squirt, an off road vehicle needs for this to be when you decide, not some programmer in an office. Any thoughts? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I seem to recall the headlamp washer operates every 5th screen wash. Juat give your screenwash a couple of blips and the headlamps will get their turn! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Quote from the handbook

"The headlamp power wash will operate on every fifth operation of the screen washer, provided the headlamps are still switched on and approximately 10 minutes have elapsed since the last headlamp wash. Switching the headlamps or ignition off and back on again, will reset the cycle. Note: The headlamp washers are inhibited when the washer fluid reservoir level is low." MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I think it's more complex than that, I read somewhere that it depends on a number of factors including a time delay. I have tried doing a few extra squirts and it won't come on. I find it quite unpredictable. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

The frequency of headlamp washes to screen washes is increased when a Terrain Response Special Programme is selected. Think it goes to 1 in 3 rather than 1 in 5.

Surely if you're going into a dirt situation you'd have a rag or something to wipe them over with before you drive off? Question Legally you also need to keep the number plate clean too. So maybe a pump up Hozelock sprayer in the boot.
Yeah, yeah, I know the car should do it. But without actual wipers these washers aren't that effective anyway.

The headlamp washers are nothing more than a device to satisfy EU legislation, if you want clean headlamps then get out and clean them, the jet washer system is ineffective Thumbs Up

Has anyone else fitted a rear camera washer yet, mine works a treat now that salt is being spread on the roads Whistle
