Shouldn't you have had a rise, not a fall, on the rev counter if the clutch is slipping? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Yes revs should rise without an increase in road speed, only your bank account should fall. |

Are you 100% sure your clutch is failing as when mine failed it was difficult to reverse any hills or pull away on a steep hill without it stalling.

I spoke to my LR service manager about a similar thing on my clutch about 25k miles ago, I was getting a slight increase in revs then dropping back going into 5th and 6th. He said that sometimes the rev counter is overreading (it's fed from the engine management system) and that it's not a good test for a clutch these days. He prefers to see how it behaves pulling away in 2nd with the brakes on. As I said it's been 25k miles and clutch still OK. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

So today I got my freelander back from the Garage with a new full clutch and full service. It was definitely the clutch that was/had failed. The car is a completely different drive now. Alot more responsive in all gears and less slack if you know what I mean!
