Most people fit a 7" as it should be an exact fit in the gap once you remove the cubby hole. Easy to refit the cubby hole if you want to sell the car, and no need to cut any holes. I did this with a TomTom but a Garmin equivalent should be the same. Some people have fitted mini-computers instead but that's more complicated. As far as I know the job can't be done MY13 onwards, as stated above.
My brother-in-law has a factory-fitted Satnav in his Suzuki but still has a second unit on the windscreen because that's his wife's. I don't know what happens if the two disagree. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
