I will be really sad to have to put my D3 up for sale soon but I am quite looking forward to owning a freelander2 Interesting to hear that you find it better at towing than a D2 |

I've been used to towing big trailers with both a D2 & D3 so it's good to know that the freelander tows well. That seems quite low mpg, is yours a manual or auto? |

It's a Manual - but those figures are with the 1.5t caravan on from Yorkshire over the Pennines to the Lake District and back.

There's a big difference when you're towing the 'van! My disco2 was manual and solo the most I'd get would be 26mpg and towing 2t I'd get about 19/20mpg on a steady run. The disco3 is auto and the most I've had doing a steady 60mph is 28mpg. I've never measured mpg when towing.........I'm too scared I'm looking forward to better economy with a freelander |

My FL2 has an mpg of about 35.7 according to the trip computer, mine is a manual. I did not notice much difference when towing my Abbey GTS 418, but I have not done much towing this year, as I changed my van but I am away next week to Wales so will check then.
