I've seen 'genuine style' mudflaps available at a very reasonable cost. Has anyone here used them, and do they fit ok?
Or is it worth spending the extra on OE?

Yes I bought a pair of genuine fronts £65 and a pair of factory style rears £25 the cheaper ones are exactly the same shape fit just as good, the moulding might not be quite as good, but they are just as robust, the cheaper ones have slightly more moulding flashing around the edges and also slight flow lines where the plastic has flowed into the mould, but this disappears once a bumper and plastic spray has been applied.
For the difference in cost the cheaper ones I had from Powerfuluk arent bad at all.

The reason I bought the genuine fronts was because they are more complicated to fit and have bracketry and I wanted it to fit without messing, the rears dont have bracketry and thus arent so critical.

I fitted aftermarket ones front and back, good fit and on the inside you can see the Landrover oval with the middle ground off to remove the word Landrover, probably seconds but you cant easily tell

I also used the after market ones with just the oval imprint. Didn't have to cut anything on for my car.

I did get some larger washers to spread the load a bit more, & some spacers (washers), as one mudflap started to tear a touch being over tensioned when screwed on..

The actual overall quality of the mudflaps are ok. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I heard that some of the aftermarket non originals do split, but under what circumstances?
If the cars going off road/over rough ground/ farm tracks and they are getting a good bashing/might be caught then I would only consider genuine parts, if the cars being used in London say then the cheaper ones might be just all you need??

Anyway at £25 a pair you can nearly buy 3 sets for the genuine cost and keep some in reserve?

AQh! I can see yes, but have those been used and thumped, they look a little dirty at the bottom, or have they just split fitting them, doesnt say does it?
Backing into a high kerb and trapping the flap between it and the wheel can tear almost any flap off even a nice flexiible rubber one, Defenders suffer from that, often have one dropped off, even genuine ones?

Thanks very much for the advice, I've ordered a set of rear flaps from Powerful UK, and will probably order a set of OE fronts as they seem to be out of stock of those anyway.
The rears will do to start with, and will at least reduce the amount of thrown up on my caravan when I drive to Cornwall next week!

Thanks for that, I fitted them myself using this very video for reference. The mudflaps are great quality, and I have seen another Freelander with OE mudflaps fitted, and there is no discernible difference.
