Sunroof issues

Hi guys

Had a weird experience yesterday. Tried opening the sunroof while driving to find it wouldn't work at all. Everytime I pressed the buttons though there was a clicking sound coming from the roof above the rear seats.

Weird thing is that after parking the car, and returning to it about 1 hr later, the sunroof opened and closed, but only manually, the auto copen and close wouldn't work.

I've seen the recalibration procedure on here and will try later, but I haven't lost power at any time, battery has been ok at all times, and the manual says this calibration is only required if power to the car has been interrupted.

any ideas??

The sunroof motor is right above the back seat. Usually the clicking sound means stripped gears in the motor.

But you said it's working again so I don't know.

You should probably lubricate the moving parts and slides ASAP. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Hi sid

Can you tell me Exactly which let I am looking at? What section of the runners did you say was corroded?

I've checked and everything visible is in perfect shape.

the runners are plastic coated alloy, and the alloy swells, so if its the problem you will see bulges on the runners,my symptoms were that the one touch did not work so I had to hold the switch and release it when I thought it was closed, not quite the same as you have but worth a check of runners, and alook for any thing else that may cause a restriction, did you try the reset?
