Apologise if this has been discussed before, but I can't for the life of me remember the conclusion. Although I can recall the discussions about fitting an exide battery, instead of an OEM.
I think our battery may be dying, although I can't be sure yet, as my charger is defiantly goosed. The battery voltage is only 12.4v, so it's a little slow to turn over and start.
A new Ctek Max's 5.0 has been duly ordered, as I need a new charger anyway, and it's cheaper than a new battery. I only do fairly short runs to work, and I don't think 11 miles with lights etc on is enough to keep the battery fully topped up. My query is, is the Hal****s man correct in saying the ECU needs to be updated that a replacement battery has been fitted? I'm aware if changing from AGM to LA would require an update, but not swapping an AGM for another AGM? The guy claims the ECU controlled alternator would fry the new battery, as it'll still think the old battery's on, and need a lot of charging. Sounds like twaddle to me, and is someone trying to get £25 for fitting a new battery! Surely the voltage sensor would record the battery's state of charge?
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Just in case a decent charge doesn't sort it.
