Help - Heater, Heater Blower and Front Heater Seats Failed

Switched on heater blower this am and nothing happened. All the pretty lights were there but no airflow except from natural airflow whilst moving. However this was cold air only so no heater effect whatever the temp. settings.
Secondly pressed the front seat bum heater button which lit as normal but no heat from this either.
Checked the blower fuse and found ok.
Appreciate any helpful suggestions before I turn over to the garage.
Thanks for reading this...

it might help if you state what model and year the car is as some member have access to TSB

I assume you tried the 'LR turn it off and restart it' fix? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks, My vehicle is the Freelander 2 2007 SE.
I'm afraid you will have to elaborate on the "turn it off and restart fix"
If you mean stop the vehicle engine and re-start then this has been done several times.

Think he means disconnect battery and leave for an hour then reconnect.

I did mean turn the igintion off and on again, a fix my old garage always used to ask me if i had done Laughing

But snappas, "hard reset" might be worth a try, remove both leads from the battery, hold them together for 15mins (the leads not the battery terminals) and this will reset modules in the car, and hopefully the one that does the heating

if not my guess is a blown relay or modual Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I feel that it might be helpful to others reading this thread what the solution to this problem was, after some three days at my local 4X4 specialist it was found that the two separate faults here all traced back to the "Hevac" unit on the dash. This self contained unit carrys all heater controls and seat heater controls. Replacement of which has resolved the faults
The Hevak unit cost £203.85 ex vat. I was charged a total of 3 hours labour @ £64.95, exc vat £55 for single system Diagnostic test (which initially showed some 45 faults present on the vehicle) and sundries all of which with vat came to a very painfull £552.60.
As I have no way of knowing just how this fault occurred I just hope it doesnt happen again until I have rid myself of this white elephant! Crying or Very sad

welcome to the white elephant brigade !
I have one too ! biggest heap of junk I have ever owned.

(which initially showed some 45 faults present on the vehicle)

Thats not abnormal ! obviously the garage have quite good diagnostic gear which have allowed the to investigate the BCM in much greater depth than just the engine ECU.

Every Freelander 2 that I have checked has shed loads of faults recorded in many of the modules but most relate to battery issues at sometime or other. My own one used to collect around 45-60 recorded faults in a matter of a week but after three years of going to the main dealer discovered that unless a warning light is on they don't even interrogate ! the system so hence why they could never find a fault !

So i wouldn't loose too much sleep about all the recorded faults.

Oldgeezer,
Yes, my somewhat protracted conversation with the technician this am did throw up battery concerns...
Over five years of ownership my original battery played up during the winter due perhaps to our in-frequent use of this car during winter. The vehicle was purchased for towing our caravan which is a summer only event. This meant that I had flat battery problems in the winter only although tests of the alternator output and battery condition always showed nothing untoward. However in Jan this year I did fit a new battery and I hope this winter I will not experience a flat battery. However I did explain in our conversation that to charge the battery I always disconnected at both terminals. The technician told me this would have been a mistake and in future when recharging I should always leave the battery fully connected as reconnection can cause a "spike" in the electronics system that could in theory have caused damage to this unit.
I have read in other places that when changing a battery in modern high tech vehicles a slave battery should be connected to make disconnection safer.

A couple of years ago, my HVAC unit lost it's low speed CAN communication and not even the aircon request signal would work.
Found out that a connector on the HVAC unit was not properly engaged; it's been fine ever since. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Hello

Just saw this topic and wondering if we have to change the HEVAC (cost 3000$) or could we manually open the fan vents since my only issue is NO HEAT on the floor..
I plugged my car at the garage and the issue is the HEVAC that need to be replaced...
I only need heat on my feet during the winter, so let me know if you have a solution, schema, walkthrough to manually open the vents

thank you!!!
