Me and my gorgeous Border Collie take part in Flyball competitions (sort of a relay race for teams of dogs). We took part in a 3 day event near Folkestone. In our division, the team in which we compete - Brimblecombe Bouncers - came 1st!

Oh, did I mention the position we came!

We also took part in the British Championships the previous weekend, and it was filmed for The One Show, and was broadcast last night. Although we didn't make the eventual programme, even though our kettle was filmed inbetween races as we took in a brew ! it was still good fun. We came 4th in our division

The One Show link on BBC iPlayer is here :-

Fast Forward on the slider bar to 9minutes 45seconds of the program

As the program presenters and interviewees say - its fast, fun, exciting, and addictive.

You don't have to be interested in our 4 legged friends to see how much adrenaline and excitement flows.

What is Flyball?

Flyball is a relay race for a team of four dogs.

The object of the race is for each dog to jump four low hurdles and trigger the Flyball box and retrieve a ball.

As they catch the ball, they will turn and race back over the jumps to the start/finish line.

The race is won by the first team to get all four dogs AND four balls back without fault.

The dogs really love it - all the dogs are pets, and just play this in their spare time for fun!!

Milly, my dog, making me proud:-

My missus also competes with our other dog, Tosca, in a sister team - Brimblecombe Rescuers. She only came 3rd! Rolling with laughter

Here they are:-

just watched "The One Show" Clip (nice looking presenter there Thumbs Up ) )

I presume you all seem to use a Collie as they are easy trained dogs, somehow i could never see my brother dalmatian doing that Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The great thing about Flyball is that literally any dog breed can take part. The teams can have mixed dogs and compete in Divisions. Divisions are like football divisions where the the best of the best are in Div 1, but equally, the slower teams can have as much fun competing with each other (each team has a "seed" time and placed in appropriate Divisions)

I've seen teams with Dalmations, Alsations, Jack Russels, Terriers, etc.

Collies tend to be in the faster teams as they are easier to train, are typically ball mad, and are very very fast Chris
