question on charging the battery

hello,

I need to detach car battery from 2011 Freelander TD4 manual with Alpine audio.
I must charge it and install again.

Could you tell me should I expect any problems like radio locked (unlock code needed), alarm wakeup or sth like that?
I found nothing about it in the owner's manual.
I don't want any problems
Battery is efficient and I am able to start engine but it's not charged enought to have start/stop system working

Thank you

If your battery charger is one of the later type similar to a CTEK, then there is no need to disconnect the battery to charge it. They are sensitive to car electronics and will do no damage on connection, charging and disconnection.
I top my battery up in Winter through my caravan towing socket using a CTEK 10a.

I use a smart charger, and leave it on when the cars not used for several weeks, it doesnt present any problems at all, in fact its so easy and if I had the hassle of having to take the battery out or disconnect and reset the systems each time I wouldnt bother.

But if youre charging yours purely because the stop start isnt working probably means you do extremely short journeys with all the electrics on or the battery isnt it tip top condition anyway, if its over 5 years old its probably on it way out anyway.
The stop start system seems to be very sensitive to battery condition and unless its like in brand new condition it wont work half the time.

I used my Optimate2 (made for bikes normally) to charge mine when I first got the car a month ago. No problems. It's a battery charger/conditioner/maintenance thing.

Also I discovered that the 12v socket in the centre console nearest the rear seats is permanently live so you can plug it into that rather than access the battery itself.

Done & some facts:

1. There is no radio code or sth like that
2. I was unable to close the car when bonnet was up so it was opened all the night
3. Electric windows should be adjusted, no troubles
4. Stop/start system works again!
5. Battery charging started at 5 Amp, then current was 2,5 Amp after half hour, so such battery condition wasn't enought to have stop/start working

I haven't smart charger. Just traditional Absaar 8 Amp.
