"passenger door open" note

Tried to find if this has been discussed already, but did not find anything. I hope I am not double posting.

Just washed my car a few days ago, and now it is below freezing (just as additional info, as I think this might have somethign to do with this...)

Anyway Even though the door closes properly I am getting a "passenger door open" message in the console.

Is there somewhere I should check to see if water/freezing has caused somethign or any other way of getting rid of thi message... especially since I am unable to lock any doors due to this... I just get the horn informaing me a door is open...

All and any help is appreciated!

P.S. 2010 US bought "LR2"

Your problem is due to either a broken on stuck micro switch which is inside of the door latch. The switch sends a closed signal to the comfort module or ECU when the door is closed to activate the alarm. I don't think you can replace just the switch which may mean you will need to replace the door latch. I used to work for vw over 7 years ago where it was a common cause of replacing latches on vw golf iv due to failed micro switches.
