Rough on start.. I'm a newbie on here

Hi all

Great helpful site I have to say!

I've had my 2007 fl2 gs auto 3 years been great and faultless..

recently it's starts but seems to turnover a second time.. Ever so slightly.. Then when runs for first 10 seconds seems to chug a little then is normal, a little colder mornings now so is this normal?

Thanks

Is your throttle valve still making noise on shutdown? 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Don't thinks it is

My freelander did the same last year I ignored it until it wouldn't start at all without winding over. Censored
The fault turned out to be non working Glow plugs which are required when the temperature is below 5c They were a complete pain to replace as you need to remove the Egr valve to and manifold to gain access to the glow plugs.

Does sound like the glow plugs, if so will get a bit worse with the colder mornings coming in.

Had a similar problem with my previous FL2. Turned out that 3 glow plugs were duff. When I found out the hassle in changing them I chickened out and got someone else to do the dirty work. 11 GS Bali Blue
07 GS FL2. Usually muddy. Gone
Numerous LRs since 1963

If you don't hear a high pitched noise from engine bay after switching off it could be throttle valve. Do a search on here for throttle valve 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

You could also check your battery voltage at rest. Should be around 12.5v or slightly higher. I changed the battery on my wife's fl2, 3 years ago for similar reasons. Took a while to fire, then when it dig. Chugged for a few seconds afterwards. Was worse at cold start up. A bought a decent battery locally with a 3 years warranty. No issues since.
I've also changed the throttle body motor for different reasons. When you shut the engine off, on occasion there would be a slight over run of the engine. Info here:- http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic22831.htm...body+motor
It could also be the glow plugs. Landy has now gone.
