When its doing it next time lightly apply the brakes, if it stops it its likely the brake pad is moving against the piston in the caliper, due to a slightly seized piston not fully coming off or the pad could do with a smear of coppaslip high melting point grease on the rear of the pad between it and the piston contact surface?? |

Thanks for your reply. I'll give that a try next time I hear it. I've recently had all new discs and pads fitted, (about 3weeks ago) |

It might be worth driving along a long flat road where you don't have to use the brakes and then stop and feel the brake discs. I had a sqeak like that on my FL1 and when I stopped I nearly burned my finger on one brake disc. Turns out that the caliper was not sliding and the brake pad was just touching the disc. It just needed cleaning up and a bit of copper grease here and there. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Or it could have been a stone trapped between disc and housing. If it doesn't happen again that's probably the answer. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Had something like this the other day and about a month back, driving along 30mph then a tin like rubbing noise, turning stopped it for a a second then it came back, braking didn't stop it or slowing down or speeding up, until I lightly pulled the hand brake on and off then it shut up

If you have had the discs replaced recently it may be the brake/shield has been knocked whilst hammering them off and it is impinging on the disc. The noise may only be audible occasionally and will end when the shield has been ground down or you inspect and bend back into shape
