Gearbox gate problem.

I am still having problems with the gate issue going from 4th gear into 5th as the solenoid is not always working to stop me going thru to reverse & the stick getting stuck.
I have unplugged & plugged back in, tried to pinch the terminals in the plug for a tighter fit. Its worked for a while but the problem is back again now. I am now of the thought to cut the plug off & try & get a more permanent connection on the solenoid.
Would Land Rover supply a new plug or would this be part of the wiring loom & not available as a spare part.

Has anyone has done this & managed to get a new plug ?

Thanks for any help/advice.

There was always going to be one!

I have often wondered myself about how the reliability of this seemingly over-complicated solution to overcome what it essentially a badly-designed H pattern.
Other car manufacturers seem to manage by sticking "R" to the left of 1st gear with either a push-down or lift-collar-type mechanism.

I have often felt the solenoid engage as I rest my hand to the right when I come to a stand before reversing back onto my drive.
Good old synchomesh in reverse means it just pops straight in when it's ready without that awful grinding of straight-cut sliding mesh-type reverse boxes.

Sorry for my rather unhelpful two-cents, but I shall be watching this with interest because mine is bound to do it at some point... "We're in danger, we've got to get out."
"What are you talking about?"
"I've been called a ponce."
