I've got quite a few Apple leads, some of them over 10 years old and they've been fine if you don't swing on them. If the iPod is 6 years old, is it an iPod classic and what is the capacity of it? |

Sound like a lead problem . Never had probs with my leads. In the car, my 160gB Ipod classic works and my 30gB Ipod doesn't work, both using the same lead. Didn't know they made Classics as low capacity as 8 gB. Sounds like an Ipod Nano to me ? My first ever IPod many many years ago was 20gB. |

You can tell a leads on its way out if you look at the plug on the device end. You have the plug then a rubber flex coating which is 5-10mm long depending on cable age, look at the lead just below that if the insulation is crinkled up / not smooth / has a bulge in it, then the lead is on the way out or dead already. This is caused by pulling the cable to remove it rather than plastic connector.

OK so new I pod genuine lead, and tried three different I pods and all the same every time I turn the engine off every time the phone rings its straight back to the start Track one, fed up listening to ABACAB by Genesis. Oh if the phone rings it then starts playing tunes on blue tooth from the phone and wont go back to the I pod till the engine is turned off.
