There is so much negativity in the forum at present I think we need a reality check hence the poll.

I voted 'not sure'. The only reason being is that i've only had mine a few months and want to see how it goes. I love it to bits but if my diff goes or one of the other dreaded known problems, then i might leave the fold the next time i'm due to change.

At this moment in time after 13 months of ownership it would be a YES
One niggly problem but other than that it has run as sweet as a nut for 15,000 miles, its quiet, the SD4 is powerful, it tows well, its as economical to be what is expected for a heavy car, its nice inside, its big enough for the dog and the wife and I like it.

If it went missing today, yes I would buy the same again, but other than that I would stick with what I have and wait for the Freelander 3.

How is yours Andy, is it still running well?

No big problems what so ever, did have a fuel gauge hiccup, maybe once a month, they looked at it on its first service, couldn't find a fault but hasn't done it since
Still pulls away in second unless I command shift or floor it, was but I can get it to gate well on the advice of Taz IIRC, dont sit with your foot on the brake, use the hand brake instead and it pulls away much better, you dont get the split second delay.

I must have missed Taz's tip because that's an arse clincher when pulling out of junctions or roundabouts. Perhaps the ECU monitors the brake pedal switch I'll try it out myself if the handbrake is good enough to hold it

I've had my FL2 for about 18 months now. It hasn't cost any more than any other car to run or maintain. I've bought bits that I wouldn't need for a normal car (winter types, fuel tank protection).
I enjoy driving the car and have been amazed by it's off road capabilities,(my car, not an experience centre's) and it makes the miles fly by.

Given the poor quality of customer service we have received from the 2 official LR dealers closest to where we live I have voted NO.

There's only another dealers 26 to try - but - they are a very long round trip from us and in winter some could become a real logistical challenge - more of a winter expedition!

This coming September my Freelander will be 3years old (that's gone quick!!)

The ONLY issues i've had is a small oil leak, was fixed quickly
I've had 1 key replaced as it just didn't like ejecting

But its been completely trouble free. I've got no intention of getting rid and if the time comes to replace it I'll happily get another freelander

They are designed to pull away in 1st gear unless in command shift ! then they pull away in 2nd. & yes never use the foot-brake together with the gas. Most cars are actually designed that way now where the brake pedal switch cuts of the fly by wire throttle.

Mine was sluggish pulling away for almost 3 years and turbo amongst many other bits were replaced but the dealer couldn't tell me whether it was supposed to pull away in 1st or 2nd for the auto.

Eventually after a mornings deliberation they got 3 auto s out and drove all three they confirmed they should pull away in 1st gear, 2nd if in sports mode & 1st if manually selected in command shift , but does default to 2nd in command shift if stopped.

A bad earth was the cause of mine pulling away in 2nd causing the lackl of power & hesitation and since goes like a rocket. No hesitation whatsoever ! just a shame it took three years to get it right !

Had my FL2 GS manual for 4 years.No problems until the clutch slave went a couple of weeks ago..turns out it was the flywheel. This is a known problem ..not to me tho .. long and short ive decided to trade in for a new GS rather than keeping the 4 year old. As an aside i had no problems with it up untill then hence getting the new one.. Im picking it up in about 3 hours
