Leisure battery help please it's sparking

Probably a real novice question but I am installing a fully charged leisure battery into my caravan I am connecting the + first but when I come to connect the - it sparks is this because I am making the circuit and is it ok to connect the - when it is doing this

You must have some equipment switched on in the van. Possibly lights or something. Do you have a fuse panel with individual circuit switches? If so turn them all off. Connect battery (without sparking), then turn on again. Something must be pulling current for it to spark. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

Depends on the spark size, even switching off the isolating switch doesn't always isolate all circuits, but if a little spark OK, big one you've something wrong or heavy switched on. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
