Beeping tone

Has anyone else noticed a long monotonous tone when they pull up and stop the car.

No idea how long it goes on for becuase i ignore it and have never noticed when its no longer happening but its annoying when you think about it and need to be near the car when you get out!

Like an electric beep but in a constant tone?

Been like it since the day i got the car but never remembered to ask abut it!

Dan

Perfectly normal, it's just the car shutting itself down.

High pitched tone from the throttle body

Hi, I purchased a new 2014 freelander 2 TD4 last year and its has this tone from the throttle body. From all the research I have been able to do is its normal to run for approx 51 sec, and then shut down. On our car we regularly get it running for in excess of 15 minutes. a real pain in the neck. The dealer has changed the throttle body and PCM, and it still does it....anyone else experienced this for long periods????

Regards
Steve

If you have a new FL2 you also get a whirring from the rear end too in conjunction with that at the front, its the electronic handbrake setting itself.

I think you will find that the noise from the rear is the electric pump on the Haldex, not the handbrake. Of course this only applies the later Fl2's with Gen IV Haldex. MY15

Thanks for the replies, I am aware of the noise from the fuel pump and hand break setting. It the throttle body DC motor thats running (high pitched tone) for upto 15 min....

I would be interested to know when you shut down, how long yours runs for.

Cheers

What do you mean "faulting"?
Mine usually end after about a minute but the other day it ran far longer. I assume this is normal operation. MY15

The fault being that it doesn't shut down after 51 sec. As other fiends vehicle and the dealers loan car does, on very shutdown.

I am running a diary on mine as it will shut down at 51 sec for up to 10 /20 ish start /stop cycles. Then it will just run till the car does the master electrical shut down at 15 min if double locked or 30 min if left unlocked. Sometimes its only 1 start / stop cycle, and then on other occasions it does it for the next 5 or 6 start stop cycles.

I believe its the Power control module (PCM) not shutting down the Engine control module (ECM) due to lost comms over the fibre network.

LR dealer can't fix, so they are now sending an engineer from Sydney to discuss / test.

Just wanted to see what all the other FL2 are doing out there.....even the new Discovery sport that I test drove shuts down at 51 sec as it should.
