I've recently looked at vin numbers and all metropolis I've seen have the F as the 10th character in the vin, which indicates model year 2015. the change happened when they went from MY14 to MY15 I think.

Some examples:

SALFA2AE1FH4391nn
SALFA2AE5FH4345nn

SAL = land rover (Tata)
F = Freelander 2
A = 4 wheel drive
2 = 4 door
A = RHD automatic
E = 2.2 diesel sd4 with dpf
n = check digit
F = model year, A=2010, B=2011
H = Built at Halewood
nnnnnn = unique serial number

The above is for Ox64 reg plate metropolis. Can someone with a Ox14 plate metropolis confirm if theirs is the same as above? Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer

Yes it is assembly or build time, the total manufacturing time will be something completely different.
Many parts arrive into Halewood ready built, ie the complete dash assembly which fits into the car in one swift process.

The cars with contrast paint roof panels (Evoque and Disvovery) take longer as they have to be pulled from the line and sent back through the paint shop.

2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Loire Blue

Was Halewood running 24 hours a day at this time? If it's a 17 hour build time the chances of completing one in a single calendar day seems limited.

Let me save you some time here - there isn't a way to identify Metropolis in the VIN. Now:
17MY Discovery D5 2.0 HSE (Carpathian):

2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Halewood has been running 24 hours a day 5 1/2 days a week for some time as has Solihull.
