It seems the battery's do eventually wear out and LR recommend a new fob.

How long have you had the car ? Fobs only charge with buttons facing up and engine running. |

Had the car just over 3 years and fob is always buttons up, so would you suggest a longer charge, SYFL2 |

I can not remember the exact video but there are loads out there showing key fob battery changes. Was it similar to this ? https://is.gd/VFbNmD Joe Fix it until it's broke ! |
