I have 2 key fobs for my fl2 help needed please

I have 2 key fobs and both keys are not working right, I have been told I don't drive long enough for it to charge in the ignition, how to I charge it , can I leave it in the ignition or does the truck have to be running , many thanks

How long have you had the car ? Fobs only charge with buttons facing up and engine running.

Had the car just over 3 years and fob is always buttons up, so would you suggest a longer charge, SYFL2

There are plenty of case and battery deals on eBay.

The battery will deteriorate over time but also the terminal pin on the battery can break off like this one and leave you with a non-working or intermittent operation.

Also the rubbery buttons on the top of the case swell up over time causing it to stick in the dock so it's not a bad thing to replace them occasionally as the need arises.

The original case is glued around the edges but it's not too difficult to open, I used a circlip plier inserted in place of the key blade to open mine, pliers like this -

If you're replacing the case, it's not a problem if it gets a bit damaged while opening so long as you keep clear of the circuit board inside, this for reference -
