As title, have finally ordered one of these today, having spoken with the Director of blackvue.co.uk, who alleviated all the concerns and questions that I had.

He also threw in a couple of DAB Noise Suppresors, as well as a stonking "off-line special deal" to include full installation/power magic pro. Yes, I daresay there are cheaper options out there, but I wanted a quality 2015 spec. bit of kit, not a grey import and zero recourse if anything goes pear-shaped further down the line.

It's due to be fitted next week...I will update this thread in due course with my thoughts after a month or so of ownership, and if I encounter some stupidity on the road in the coming weeks, will add the footage to the appropriate thread already in existence. Foraging near Gaydon....

There's a thread just started on the disco site, HIDS4u have dropped Blackvue due to poor reliability, I've bought two, both replaced under warranty.

I've had a blackvue for over 2 years now and never had an issue,along with a few friends on the d2 forum who also have them.

Occasionally get a "check SD card" message but a quick reformat by holding the power button and all is well again

The reliability was one of my key questions, as I've read some horror stories. What reassured me was that he openly acknowledged that there have been past issues, particularly with DR550, but the 2015 units had been significantly updated. The "green/purple" rear camera issue was down to temperature tolerances, which have now been fixed, and their return rates are less than 3%. As a distributor, he also advised that the Koreans simply swap them out without any quibble, even when they are out of warranty. So all in all, it's a measured risk that I'm willing to take, especially after the C-unit driving the Audi Q7 in Leamington on Thursday took my door mirror off, and legged it afterwards.  Foraging near Gaydon....

One had the GPS fail at less than a week old, replaced under warranty. Another one refused to connect to the iPhone, again replaced under warranty.

Oh well, two members have had good ones, must be faultless then  p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

1st blackvue replaced under warranty
2nd the internal battery died supplier said nowt they could do as now out of warranty, I fitted a new internal battery myself
all has been ok till yesterday when I noted the sd card was missing any files from the days before
32gb card so plenty of room
I will monitor this and if it persists
I will replace the camera as i do not want to find out post incident the camera failed to capture it.

Make sure that the SD Card is an "XC" or higher.....lesser formats have been known to fail religiously. So far so good with mine, although the Power Magic Pro has been a right faff, and I wish I hadn't bothered with it in hindsight, it seems to serve no purpose whatsoever. What have the problems been with the 550 twin? I have this one though not in the Freelander?

I had the damn thing keep saying "Plese Check the SD Card". I kept checking the sodding thing but it wouldn't reformat after a while. This was the card that came with it whatever that was though when I wanted to check it to see what storage it was I couldn't find it, it had vanished.
I got a new 32Gigg card & it seems fine now.

I have the accessory that records while parked but in my Fiesta ST it shuts down quickly anyway as I guess it senses battery drain lol. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
