My dad got a new at the time 63 reg 110 pickup, leaked constantly through the drivers door. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I test drove (out of curiosity) a £40k Defender 90 for sale at Gordon Lamb Chesterfield. Every conceivable extra fitted including sound proofed suede headlining and soundproofed flooring.

it rattled, rumbled and squeaked its way around the completely tarmac test route and enforced my thoughts that since I first drove a military defender back in the 90's that little has changed apart from the ridiculous price tag of the one I drove most recently (although I think it is now reduced to £36k)

I would still have one though Very Happy

If you look at the doors its a wonder they dont leak more than they do.

I must admit to a bit of nostalgia now that they are stopping making them,, but then I remember that when I had the defender I also had a vw golf for non local journeys, a dull ford pickup is good for both tasks.

the pickup although cheaper could ultimately cost more as defenders dont half cling on the their values, even farm spec van versions At work

I must admit I do fancy one, a 110 XS utility corris grey with black pack and lunar/ebony premium seats, not that I've looked Laughing Still has seats in the back and plenty space for the dogs.

My dads one was a company vehicle which has been moved to someone else, he's now stuck with a transit pick up, he does enjoy having a radio though Laughing 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I have owned various LRs over the years, starting with Series Land Rovers.

I sold my 63 plate 110 XS Defender earlier this year and bought the FL2 because SWMBO couldn't easily get up into it after inuring her wrist and I was no longer ferrying my son and others on his rugby team around.

There is nothing like a Defender. You have to drive one, rather than pointing one in the right direction whilst sat in your armchair. My one was rustproofed as soon as I drove it off the forecourt and did not have any water leaks.

By comparison to a FL2, they are crude and noisy and you have to really want one but once you have the bug, nothing else compares.

BTW I still have my Series 2A. By comparison, a Defender is a FFRR but it is the vehicle that puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

This was mine. Diesel converted to V8. Long sold on but I still hanker after it. Jules
