Apparently it is possible to blank the EGR on a pre-facelift, but not a post facelift without a fault being generated. I started thinking that it may be possible to restrict the EGR to at least reduce the flow, but not generate a fault, which is what I did on my old V6 Vectra CDTi.
The plate I fitted was one I used on the Vectra and it fitted (amazingly) straight on. It had two 6mm holes in it. I had high hopes....
Well, it was rubbish. Massive turbo lag, nothing nothing nothing, then bang, turbo fires up. Not what I was expecting as it worked so well on the Vectra. There is obviously more to the EGR and engine control on the Freelander than the Vectra (I guess not surprising as it is a much newer engine). Taking it out returned it to normal and no error codes were generated.
Restricting the EGR increased turbo lag, therefore, perhaps my EGR needs cleaning out which may reduce the lag I am currently experiencing.
Progress, of sorts, at least. BMW X3 30d M Sport - Current (problem free)
2014 SD4 Auto HSE Lux - Gone (too many problems)
2012 TD4 Manual XS - Gone (too many problems)
