Looks like the door Latch needs replacement, and yes it sounds like another freelander known "feature"

I had the same fault on one of the rear doors. Had a read from the D3 forum on how to fix/ change the lock, but before that I give it a good spray with silicon oil by removing one of fixing screws and sprayed in there and anywhere else I could get into and it just started working again. Just an up date. It appears to be a faulty part. Multi pressing lock on the fob eventually locks all doors.
