blacktiger, if your 2009 has it's original keyfobs then they are 7-8 years old and the batteries will be stuffed.

Well, the problem is that since, apparently, the car goes into sleep mode I can't tell where the real problem lies. Too many problems is the problem. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE |

So a belated update. I got into the car eventually using the key. The lock probably had a bit of corrosion on the contacts because it took quite a lot of wiggling to and fro before it made contact. Once into the car the fobs had plenty of charge in them.

I have a 62 plate FL2 xs which is suffering with a stroppy infotainment system, what do you do with the key for this model, I leave it in the little tray in front of gearstick. How does that go for battery? I've had it a few weeks and so far the fob is OK but do I need to change the battery eventually or does it get charged off the car? Dave |

I unlock the car and put the key in my trouser pocket. If some gangsta mugs me for my car, I get out, dead lock them in it and press the emergency button. No it doesn't get charged by the car. That's the models where you push the fob into a slot in the dash. Battery change is really easy. I just had to change one of mine as the warning came up on the dash. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE |

Hi, thanks for that info having read elsewhere about keys being charged by the car, and given that it has electric lights and the new-fangled internal combustion engine AND rubber tyres, I gave it too much of a drum-roll. Seriously, I have just swapped a td5 Defender for this prospective nightmare!! |
