Slightly different door lock issue.

hi,

I have sent some time reading through as many of the door lock posts as I can.

We have a 2011 freelander and about a year ago it had the very common driver door not locking or unlocking from the fob etc. I read up and replaced the unit. its been fine ever since

However this week I have an issue I cant see anyone else referring too...

The doors all lock and unlock fine from the fob and the buttons on the dash.

The handle inside works fine to open the door provided it is unlocked, however the handle and little lock lever on the drivers door will not operate the locking mechanism. It is as if the drivers door has a child lock on!

Reading up on Topix it seems the latch and handle maybe operate a switch(?) which in turn signals the central locking to unlock all doors. this just isn't happening. The passenger continues to work fine, so I can unlock the door by using the fob, dash unlock button or passenger door handle/lock lever. Just not the drivers door, which with drive away locking is very annoying.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks
Allan.

It sounds to be a cable problem to me. Perhaps the cable for the lock has broken or come adrift after the lock change? Silver 2009 HSE

Thanks for the reply Glynn,

It's not broken all together, as the handle still opens the door, and if you pull the handle pretty hard twice it will unlock and open on the second pull.

Maybe a sticky cable is not pulling far enough to trigger the unlatching.

Does anyone know if there is a micro switch the handle (in the latch the other end of the handle cables perhaps) which triggers the central locking system?

If there is I am wondering if it has maybe come loose or broken...

I need to get in and have a look but need the time to do it.
